The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18.

Source:

I certainly hope that 53% of Americans who voted for Obama and the press, who are still “in the tank” for him, learn the importance of properly vetting a candidate. It makes you wonder where their heads were.

I wonder what the left-wingnuts are feeling like after realizing they’ve been deftly herded by sheep-dog Soros and his media machine.

The press, if they still have an independent backbone in them, might get a lesson as well when they realize the readers, who the press are supposed to serve, will never be able to trust them to do their job of providing America with some in-depth reporting. However, seeing how the media houses are stacked to the rafters with lemming-like liberal reporters, I’m not going to hold my breath while waiting for that to ever happen.

The Copenhagen meeting has been described as a “circus”. An array of fringe groups are attending. It looks like the Copenhagen climate meet is melting down under the weight of its own kookiness.

• The delegation from Bolivia will be pushing for a Universal Declaration of Mother Earth Rights, which the country’s President Evo Morales says “supersede the rights of human beings.”

• A group called GenderCC (Women for Climate Justice) rejects using distractions like “numbers” and “target dates” to track and fight climate change, and doesn’t appear very interested in the environment itself. Instead, it hopes to implement “gender-mainstreaming” and ensure that the U.N. guarantees the fullest participation of “feminist scientists” at every level.

• The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University is putting on an exhibit to “explore how thoughts affect matter and how a shift in consciousness can transform current deteriorating conditions” for the environment.

• International Planned Parenthood is putting on a show about how to increase contraception in the third world to stop babies — who later become adults — from ruining the environment.

• Many others appear redundant, including nine events on climate justice and 39 on a single U.N. cause celebre called REDD — reducing emissions from deforestation in developing countries — which adds up to well over a 40-hour workweek of seemingly repetitive hearings on a single topic.

They should try to gain some credibility. Right now, they have none. Al Gore even canceled his $3200/head Power Point presentation of new “data”. His new book is based on those “facts”.

DOH!

At least we see people are starting to get it. Unfortunately, the administration looks at polls and dismisses them. They are undounted. Let’s review: Health care that will raise a family’s health insurance cost while at the same time requiring that coverage under penalty of prison is not welcome by the American public. The administration and the leadership in Congress flip America the bird and push harder. Global warming is revealed to be a hoax complete with intentionally destroyed data and explicit written evidence of number tampering. Does the Administration pause and investigate? No they defiantly press harder, seeking an international treaty that would crush what’s left of American industry, impose a global tax on Americans, then pour salt on U.S. industry by announcing CO² a hazardous waste to be regulated. Stand-by for the breathing tax, trust me it’s coming. Meanwhile unemployment remains in the double digits. Does any of this create jobs for Americans? Not really.

I’ll give Obama kudos, he does not craft his agenda by following polls. President Clinton seemed obsessed, chasing polls, however Obama seems obsessed by ideological fervor. I’ve heard him called an empty suit and while I have not come to any solid conclusion on that, I doubt it. I do believe he is a front man for greater powers, but I think he is completely in line with those who sponsor him. He has a clear agenda to socialize America. He was raised and mentored by communists, by his own admission he chose to associate himself with radicals and communist professors while in college, why then should it surprise anyone when his administrative agenda is aggressively socialist?

I’ll answer that. I believe it is due to two things. First his socialist leanings were not covered by the press during the campaign. The press and Obama laughed off such accusations – while never actually denying them. Obama’s own confessions written in his book, Dreams From My Father, were completely ignored. Second his speeches are generally centrist. He continues to talk like someone with the public’s best interest, claiming he would not sign a health care bill “that adds one dime to the budget,” but then throwing the weight of his administration in support of a very costly bill. He talks about creating new jobs but pursues higher taxes and suffocating new regulations. He complained of the historic deficits racked up by G.W. Bush, yet proceeds to dwarf them by a factor of ten.

Can we believe him when he speaks? You decide but do so by comparing what he says to what he does. The old adage says, “actions speak louder than words.” Did the stimulus create jobs? Did the corporate layoffs even slow? Has the presidential agenda concentrated on stimulating the economy and real permanent job creation or on expanding government and taxes?

Let’s look at some other interesting polls. How does the public feel about the Senate’s health care bill? CNN tells me the public wants it but the polls paint a different picture. Perhaps they are asking the question differently or mistaken. Or maybe, if you tell people a lie often enough it becomes the truth. Some one once said that and I don’t think he was a good guy.

How about the economy. Do people really appreciate the wonderful job the Democrats are doing on the economy? If you listen to Obama, Pelosi, and Reid you might think so. They want to push another huge jobless stimulus package on us. Why?

In conclusion, the frustrating thing about the situation is that no matter what the polls say the agenda will not change. Press Secretary and Obama Court Jester, Robert Gibbs simply responds by attacking the pollsters. Love him or hate him Obama is on a mission. I simply fear that mission is not one that will end well for America. Obama is a globalist and his ideology does not place America’s interests above the larger global interests or for that matter ideological theory. Boy I miss Clinton. At least a good negative poll rattled him.

In 2010 we have a chance to correct our blunder last year by ousting the leftists in the House and we have a shot at a third of the Senate. Unfortunately, while history shows the Administration’s party loses in mid-terms, history also demonstrates the staying power of incumbents, especially lifers, who’ve held office for more than three terms. The negative side of me is convinced that even if every single Democrat up for election in 2010 were defeated only White House rhetoric would moderate. Yet in spite of my negativity, I choose hope. I choose to hope and pray that we will move away from Democrats and Republicans without a fiscally responsible thought in their heads. And find new politicians who understand it’s business that drives the economy not government.

Business abhors uncertainty. Right now, it doesn’t know what to expect from Obama’s programs. It finds them unsettling and creating more questions than answers.

Businesses are saying they cannot assess the full impact the health care bill will have on their business models. Even the health care insurance companies are struggling to determine its impact.

Then there is the upcoming Cap and Trade fiasco waiting in the wings. This creates even more uncertainty about how it will impact their profit margin. All they know is that it will be negative. Whatever the costs, they will be passed to their customers. That means we will have less disposable income and means another negative impact upon the economy.

With so much uncertainty, business is waiting for these bills to become reality (better yet, fiction) while they are cut costs in anticipation.

On the senate docket is the Waxman-Markey climate and energy bill—aka the American Clean Energy and Security Act, ACES, H.R. 2454. That’s going to hit business structures, new homes, existing homes and transportation. It’s just another source of uncertainty about costs and what it means to business and another source of negative impact upon the economy.

Consumers are pulling back, saving their money, paying off bills but not spending it on the economy at normal rates. This creates more problems for businesses trying to weather the storm. It causes them to batten down the hatches even tighter. It’s no wonder employment rates are at historic levels.

It appears the problem affecting the economy is Obama himself. His brand of change creates fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Fixing the economy would then appear to be simple. Since he won’t resign, Obama should sit down and shut up.

If Obama were to do anything at this time, it would be to call for a press conference to announce he will not sign this version of the health care bill, that he will not sign the American Clean Energy and Security Act and that he will not sign the Cap and Trade bill. In addition, he should announce he will cut taxes for both business and individuals and will support legislation to force the banks to begin loaning to business and consumers.

The aftermath and fallout of the global warming hoax has started in earnest now. This is a story which I think has yet to finally sink in. I have been tracking the demise of the global warming movement in this blog for almost a year now. Last year, I linked to an article from the UK Telegraph proclaiming 2008 as the year the climate hoax was disproved. While that may have been true in the UK, and despite overwhelming evidence now from the disclosed emails, people in the states are still reticent to accept the full weight of the deceit.

Introducing Reedkeys of A Conservative Estimate.

Previously on my blog, I detailed the apparent fraud which has been exposed by the release of some material from the East Anglia University’s Climate Research Unit in Britain. (You can read that one here.) For some of you, this may come as startling news, since virtually none of the old guard media have made much of this story. I guess you can file this in the same file with Van Jones and ACORN. But if the global warming hoax is officially over, it’s time to take count of all the changes we’ve made and how that might affect the rest of our lives.

I was more than a little chagrined when I started to realize all the things we have done in the name of protecting the environment over the last thirty years. For example, I have always resisted the idea of recycling. Oh, sure, I’d drop some aluminum cans in a recycling bin if it was handy, but to actually go out of my way to store refuse until I could haul it to a recycling center, out of the question. Until I moved up north. In the town I live in, we are all issued a recycling bin with very specific instructions on what should go in it and what should not. Here’s the kicker – it is actually illegal for me not to recycle. That’s right, government has decided that it is for the greater good to prosecute those who refuse to recycle in order to protect the planet. So far, the trash Nazis haven’t checked my trash – yet!

And it’s not like there is some more economical reason for cities to mandate recycling. In fact, I’ve read recently that California’s recycling program is in shambles and nearly bankrupt. California is a state that has completely sold out to the environmental hoax and look where they are. They are almost completely bankrupt, they can’t pr0duce enough energy to serve their citizens, and they keep raising taxes to cover their budget shortfalls. It’s time for California to take the restrictions off of businesses, let people live their lives and make the economy for California flourish.

Another aspect of the environmental movement has been to ban a series of chemicals because they are supposedly causing global warming or harmful to the environment. For me though, one of the most appalling things that has happened is the ban on the incandescent light bulb. The light bulb is the quintessential American invention. It helped define us and establish us as a force for industry in the world. Now we are turning our back on the light bulb in favor of a far more hazardous alternative: the compact fluorescent light bulb. This, as you may know, is far more hazardous since it contains mercury. If you break it or it burns out, you must take it to your local hazardous materials dump. You can’t simply throw them away. To me, it is an insult that we would make it illegal to sell incandescent bulbs when they are far safer than the alternative.

Perhaps this is why I have always had a problem with the so-called environmental movement. At it’s heart, I have always believed it was anti-technology and anti-freedom. That is to say, someone who thinks all our consumption is obscene wouldn’t get you to stop consuming without guilting you into it. So we end up with more dangerous light bulbs, cars we don’t want to drive, and environmentally friendly chemicals which don’t do what they’re supposed to.

<img style="border:0 none;" title="Dec 3 2009 BERLIN - DECEMBER 03: A police van drives past giant banners showing German Chancellor Angela Merkel that read: 'Climate Protection Now! Copenhagen 2009' (L) and 'Mrs. Merkel: Save the Climate! Now!' hanging from Hauptbahnhof train station on December 3, 2009 in Berlin, Germany. The banners, hung by Greenpeace activists, refers to the upcoming summit on climate change in Copenhagen, where Chancellor Merkel will lead the delegation representing Germany.
The demise of the global warming movement comes at an interesting time. Next month, the United Nations is having a huge climate change convention in Copenhagen to discuss new strategies governments around the world (this means you, United States) can take to combat catastrophic climate change. Can anyone say. . .”Never mind!” No! In fact, it wasn’t until the release of these documents that the President confirmed he would make an appearance at the convention. It’s handy since he’s going to Oslo to collect his Nobel Peace Prize and Copenhagen is in the neighborhood. . .I guess. No doubt, President Obama and many of the other dignitaries will do their best to resuscitate the environmental movement, but the people of the world aren’t stupid. They may compassionate to a fault, but they are not stupid.

So what does it all mean, where do we go from here? Obviously, with so much money tied to the environmental movement, there will be a continued attempt to keep the gravy train rolling. They may call it something else, but the bottom line is that they will continue to tell you that you must do this or that or the planet will die. Remember the lies they have been telling you for the last thirty years. Remember how you felt when you realized you had been duped all these years (if you have). Don’t feel bad, it isn’t your fault. You only wanted to help save the planet. You did what you thought was right. It’s never time to trash the planet or disrespect our environment, but it is time to reject a political movement whose goal is to get you to live a smaller life than what you are capable of. Elect people who reject the constraints of the “environmental” movement and help get America back on its feet at the same time!

It isn’t enough to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome but the academic morons on the Left keep trying to brainwash all the malleable mushy-heads they can reach. Queens College not only invited a radical Muslim, but an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Then they defend the decision not by refuting his accused criminal actions, but by calling those who complained racists and xenophobes.

Perhaps the most outrageous item in this story, at least to me, is the title of the cleric’s speech, “How Islam Perfected Thanksgiving.” Upon reading it, I could not help but to think of the Star Trek character, Chekov. A running gag in the original 1960s TV series was Chekov’s insistence that everything of value was either originally Russian or perfected by Russians. It appears a similar level of audacious narcissism exists or is emerging in Islam. If not in Islam, certainly in its groveling academic admirers.

An excellent essay on this appeared yesterday on Redstate. I am reprinting it with a link to the original.

Radical Islam Finds Voice In New York College

by James Richardson

Siraj Wahhaj, a radical Muslim cleric who authorities in 1995 identified an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, was last week invited to Queens College to speak on the subject “How Islam Perfected Thanksgiving.”

Wahhaj testified in 1996 for convicted terror plotter Omar Abdel Rahman, who was charged with attempting to bomb New York’s Lincoln Tunnel and the United Nations. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was recently assailed–justifiably so, considering the imam’s history and inflammatory rhetoric–in the press for inviting Wahhaj to an event with local Muslim religious leaders to discuss the Ft. Hood tragedy.

Despite Wahhaj’s altogether sordid and troubling past, the imam was invited with open arms to campus of Queens College by the Muslim Student Association (MSA), whose members just days before attended a College Republican film screening event of an anti-radical Muslim film and reportedly laughed and muttered “good” as beheading footage of American businessmen and the collapse of the World Trade Centers aired.

At a debate following the film, one MSA member said, “If I had enough money I would be part of the jihad army, I would kill all the Jews,” according to one College Republican present. Another spoke of getting a “bomb.”

Following the events of the debate and the invitation to Wahhaj, the Queens College chapter of College Republicans demanded the school’s administrators defund the MSA on the grounds the group espoused radical, anti-American ideology. School officials defended the organization, telling reporters it was a matter of constitutionally-protected free speech.

The MSA “definitely should not be funded by the taxpayers,” Queens College Republicans Vice President Ryan James Girdusky told the New York Post.

But despite the school’s protestations, the Queens College Muslim Student Association has a history of associating with extremist elements of the Muslim community. One of the group’s most committed members, Adis Medunjanin, was last month arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with Najibullah Zazi in New York City as a prime suspect in a terror investigation called “one of the most serious terrorist threats to our country since Sept. 11, 2001” by Attorney General Eric Holder.

Medunjanin, a respected member of the Queens College MSA, was a common fixture in the group’s prayer room, “where he came to worship two or three times a week,” according to the New York Times.

But the most alarming aspect of this is the College Democrats’ conspicuous silence on the matter. Wahhaj’s record of destructive and divisive rhetoric is such that, in an ideal world, both parties would be compelled–out of simple respect for the victims of September, 11th, if by nothing else–to condemn the imam’s radical brand of Islam and the group who so willingly extended an invitation.

Of course, we don’t live in an ideal world.

College Democrats’ are complicit in Wahhaj’s troubling anti-American rhetoric by failing to condemn his presence and ideology, a particularly tone-deaf position as disconcerted New Yorkers cope with the Obama Administration’s reckless decision to award enemy military combatants civilian trails in their back yard.

While school administrators’ insistence that the MSA is a run-of-the-mill student organization may be the politically expedient thing to do, it’s certainly not the right thing to do.

What does this have to do with Reagan? “President Ronald Reagan believed … that someone who agreed with him 8 out of 10 times was his friend, not his opponent,” the resolution states. With that in mind, if a candidate strayed from the list on three or more issues, the RNC resolution, if approved, would block him/her from receiving financial support and/or official endorsements.
